About

Choosing the right home for your family is one of the most important aspects when finding a home. It's incredibly important that you work with someone who is knowledgeable on the area and understands the needs of you and your family to ensure you find a home that you and your family can grow and thrive in. With over 130 different schools in the Waterloo Region School Board, its essential that you find the right one for your kids.

How to find what school your kids will attend

Fortunately, Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region has made it easy to figure out which schools are available by address. To do so, visit the following link:

Which school do I attend?

From here, you can enter in street address, municipality and choice of board to see what options are available for your children.

What are the best schools in the Kitchener Waterloo Region?

Selecting the best school is a difficult task. One needs to consider much more than just academic scores to find the one thats right for their family. Difficult to measure metrics such as where it is in relation to your home, friends that are attending, family nearby, and teachers at the schools are all very important things to keep in mind.

I always recommend going to the school, talking with families that attend, and meeting the teachers to find the right one for your family.

However understanding the ones which rank the highest in academic scores can be a starting place for figuring out where to begin looking. One area we can look at are the EQAO scores which act as a snapshot that shows whether students are meeting curriculum expectations in reading, writing and mathematics at various stages. To see these scores go to the EQAO dashboard and select the grade & select the Board. For Kitchener/Waterloo this will usually be Waterloo Region DSB or Waterloo CDSB.

We can also look to the Fraser Institute for school rankings. Very important to note however that not all schools can be rated, or are rated. The criteria for rankings is outlined here. As of the 2018-2019 scores, some of the top rated schools based on academic rating by Fraser Institute in the area include:
