The Walter Bean Grand River Trail which runs alongside the Grand River for over 70kms, is another popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a scenic route for biking and walking, and in the winter, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. This trail is perfect for casual and expert hikers alike.
Additionally, Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort is a nearby winter and summer recreation club that offers a variety of activities, from skiing and snowboarding to mountain biking and ziplining. Restaurants
The Grand River South neighbourhood tends to be primarily residential however it does have some local favourites including Delicious Pizza and Double Taste Shawarma for those looking for a quick bite.
Just outside the neighbourhood however, residents will find a large variety of highly rated restaurants. Some recommendations include the well reviewed Linhai Sushi Family Restaurant offering a la carte sushi options and the Kitchener famous Pepi's Pizza with its renown pizza and toasted subs.
For those interested in a more elevated experience there are a number of excellent options including Charcoal SteakHouse which offers choice steak dishes, including ribeye and prime rib, along with seafood and pasta. Del's Italian Kitchen is a favourite among locals, offering elevated Italian fare including hearth-baked pizzas, cocktails, and wine. Both of these restaurants offer a high-quality dining experience and are worth checking out.
If you're interested in a bar and you're looking to keep it casual The Bent Elbow offers craft brews, cocktails, and casual bites. For a more upscale experience, Martini's Bar & Patio has a sophisticated vibe and a menu of international small plates and entrees.
Groceries
Residents have access to a few grocery options, with the closest being a Food Basics and a Zehrs. Slightly further out there are some more Zehrs and Food Basics as well as a FreshCo and a Dutchies Fresh Market. A local option includes the Upper Village Market which is well known for their samosas.
Amenities
Towards the north side of the neighbourhood is the Lyle Hallman Pool (Grand River Recreation Center) offering one of the better indoor pools in the area and swimming lessons. Nearby is also the Grand River Arena which is a 15,000 square-foot with events and free community skating times for all ages.
Access to the commercial gyms in the area will require a 5-10 minute drive but nearby there is a Fit4Less and a Goodlife towards Highway 8.
