In addition to its natural beauty, Idlewood also offers convenient access to amenities like the Idlewood Outdoor Swimming Pool, which offers swimming lessons for kids and features a small slide. The nearby Lackner Wood Natural Area is another popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for casual hiking, running, and walking, as well as a popular spot for dog owners.

Additionally, Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort is a nearby recreation club that offers a variety of activities for both winter and summer. From skiing and snowboarding to mountain biking and ziplining. Idlewood is primarily a residential neighbourhood, but it does offer a few local dining options for those looking for a quick bite. Delicious Pizza and Double Taste Shawarma are both popular choices in the area.

Just outside the neighbourhood, residents will find a wide variety of highly rated restaurants to choose from. Linhai Sushi Family Restaurant is a well-reviewed option that offers a la carte sushi, while the Kitchener famous Pepi's Pizza is known for its delicious toasted subs.

If you're in the mood for a casual bar, StrykerZ Kitchen and Bar is a low-key hangout serving familiar eats like burgers and pizza. For a more upscale experience, Martini's Bar & Patio towards Centreville offers a sophisticated vibe and a menu of international small plates and entrees.

Residents have access to a few grocery options, with the closest being a Food Basics, Zehrs and Walmart. Slightly further out there are some more Zehrs and Food Basics as well as a FreshCo and a Dutchies Fresh Market. A local option includes the Upper Village Market which is well known for their samosas.

Amenities


The Lyle Hallman Pool (Grand River Recreation Center) is located toward the north side of the Idlewood neighbourhood and offers one of the best indoor pools in the area, as well as swimming lessons. Nearby is also the Grand River Arena which is a 15,000 square-foot with events and free community skating times for all ages.

While access to commercial gyms in the area requires a short 5-10 minute drive, there are options such as a nearby Fit4Less and also a Goodlife located near Highway 8.
